The Peacocks return to action this weekend and can go top of the standings with a win when we make the short trip to Dudley Sports on Saturday (3pm).
A win at local rivals Gornal Colts last time out helped keep us firmly in the promotion hunt as Nathan Jones netted twice to secure a nervy 2-1 win, that’s four goals in two games for him after he also scored a brace against Saltley Stallions three days earlier.
Our only league defeat this season came away from home, however we’ve since won each of our last four away games in the WMRL, scoring 16 goals and taking maximum points from some very good sides including Tipton Town and Saltley Stallions.
Our opponents Dudley Sports are enduring a challenging season with only one win on the board so far, although it did come at home and at the expense of Stourport Swifts Development, the only side to have beaten us this campaign. A win for Sports would lift them off the foot of the table, something they’ll be desperate to do.
The sides met on the opening day of the season in the reverse fixture which saw The Peacocks run out 2-1 winners at a very wet Garden Walk Stadium. Goals from Luke Carter and Sam Lester kicked off the Dave King era with a 2-1 victory.
The referee for this one will be Mathew Oliver, he’ll be joined by assistants Andy Luckett and Mark Pearson. We remind all fans to please respect the match officials and to refrain from abuse of any kind. The club are responsible for our fans and misbehaviour could result in a points deduction.
We are just down the road in Brierley Hill for this one and your support would be greatly appreciated but if you can’t make it to the game, updates will be posted to our X (previously Twitter) and Facebook. Alternatively, you can sign up to the Pitchero app where you can find live game updates as well as other club news and stats.
