Gornal Athletic travel to Wednesfield FC on Saturday (3pm) to face Warstones Wanderers in the Quarter Finals of the WMRL Division 1 League Cup with the winners earning a home tie against Kidderminster Harriers U23.

Victory against Gornal Colts at the beginning of February ensured the Peacocks’ place in this Quarter Final. Four goals in extra time added to the drama of the eight-goal thriller at Garden Walk that had the teams level at 2-2 after 90 minutes before ending 5-3 to the home side.

Gornal come into this game in scintillating form having won nine games on the bounce, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last five. They’ve opened up a gap at the top of the table in recent weeks but their focus switches to knockout football this weekend which has its own challenges to overcome.
