Yesterday saw us finally get our first win in 2025 which has been a long time coming, 100 days to be exact and all credit must go to the lads yesterday.

With us in recent weeks having no luck or bad luck it seemed with Tuesdays performance it could be a step in the right direction but with a squad picking up injuries and us giving those players the night off at training to give them the best possible chance to be available yesterday the game maybe came around a couple of days to soon and looking like we can’t catch a break at the minute.

With 3 forced changes from Tuesday it was a chance for others to have a great opportunity, in conditions that proved in the end to be a major factor. We demanded we build on Tuesdays performance and want nothing less than 3 points from the game.

Starting the game playing against the wind we were pinned back and struggled to get out and took until the 37th minute for us to actually string a few passes together in the opposition half but that from us was really it as it was all about our defensive duties and riding the storm.

Half time I accepted the wind was a factor in the first half but only if we used the elements to our favour second half, it was definitely a game of two halves as second half we was now the team to enjoy the ball in the right areas and Allexton were on the wrong side of the wind.

Our goal came from quick pressure from Ryan Piggot on the Allexton keeper who made the one mistake of the game and luckily for us Ryan was there to give us a 1-0 advantage.

Allexton later on went down to 10 men and that seemed to give them more advantage and turned the game into a tennis match, it was simply about game management then and slowing the rhythm down as we knew we didn’t need another goal and the lads executed brilliantly.

We really can’t sing and dance about the performance but it was just about getting the job done in some strange conditions, at times we showed our football but for the majority of it was about being clever in possession and disciplined out of position.

This is a massive 3 points, the first since Boxing Day and to get it with a clean sheet was another big positive for us and Is definitely what the players deserve from recent performances and levels they are showing in training week in week out.

The lads now must enjoy this until we train Thursday but for us our work has already started as we prepare for our away fixture to Wednesfield next Saturday, we will monitor injuries and hopefully they will be available, but we will not be rushing any player back to soon to risk further damage.

I’ll finish off by again praising these lads for what they have done in recent weeks with new players coming in, developing a new playing style and battling against everything that could go wrong has has gone wrong, they truly deserve these 3 points and now we must push on again and finish the season with some dignity.
