Convincing Gornal Beat Telford
By Ashley Davies
Four different goalscorers at Garden Walk as Gornal Athletic put Telford to the sword
The game started really well for a Gornal side that were aiming to keep recent home from going.
Ryan Piggott was denied by the keeper before Matt Martin and Chris Hill were both denied by blocks on corners.
Piggott was later denied a goal of the season from a Jake Brigdale cross by a defenders toe. He then later got denied by a low down save at the near post and then the youngster smashed the post with a fierce strike. Telford couldn't cope with the striker.
Oliver Hartland then fired wide from range, he was extremely impressive throughout before fellow teen Myles Hall saw a shot held from a similar distance.
After the break Gornal got the immediate impact with sub Kane Showell netting his second in as many games. Six minutes later Myles Hall was upended in the box and was awarded a penalty which he dispatched with comfort to double the lead.
Gornal then rode a small Telford storm which saw Ash Green push a low down effort wide of the post.
Ryan Piggott then put the game to bed after receiving a Matt Martin backheel, he then charged through, cut inside and finished at the second attempt.
Ash Green then produced a second wonderful save to deny Telford and preserve the clean sheet.
Kyle Peters then finished the game in style, getting on the end of an Oliver Hartland pass he charged through on goal to stay calm and put the ball low between the keepers legs and in to score his first goal in adult football. A great week for him and Kane Showell who've both enjoyed their first goals in the adult game!
That saw the end of a comfortable victory for Gornal, we now play Newport twice to end the season!
