Gornal Edge Closer to Safety with Victory
By Ashley Davies
A Ryan Piggott double did the job at York Road.
The game started with Bustleholme taking an early lead, Chris Brown crossing low for Oliver Clarke to tap home past Joe Collingridge.
Gornal then got better as time went on as Ozzy Aigbe created well down the wing but lacked a finishing touch.
Nathan Griffiths would then miss an open goal from six yards from a Ryan Piggott cross across the box. The Gornal chances continued as Agibe then took an effort off the foot of Griffiths and struck straight at Ben Holden.
James Hawthorne and Seth Jordan were defending strongly for Bustleholme who had three good chances themselves with Joe Collingridge twice rushing out and saving with feet from one on one situations before a low down push out.
The half time chats made a huge difference as Bustleholme seemingly tried to hold what they had.
It took over an hour but eventually Piggott was in. Chris Norton let the striker go and in on goal he went. Pace and precision he slotted under Ben Holden to level matters.
Minutes later he had a second as the striker danced past three to hire hard and home from a right angle.
Piggott was a constantly threat with pace and direct football.
The game petered out well for Gornal with Bustleholme forcing a late free kick save from Collingridge.
A big win for Gornal Athletic who host Newport Town this weekend.
